Mid Columbia Juried Art Exhibit: The Dalles Art Center sponsors this event for local Middle School and H.S. Students. The exhibit will run 2/5/13 through 3/2/13. Entries will be accepted 1/29 through 2/2. Only one entry per student will be accepted. Students must reside and attend a local mid Columbia school. Entries must be the students own work. Flat work must be neatly presented and "hook" ready. All sculptures and 3-D art must be able to be displayed on a pedestal. Entry forms can be found at The Dalles Art Center, any local Middle/High School, or online at http://www.thedallesartcenter.org. A closing reception will take place at TDAC (220 East 4th St., The Dalles) on Saturday, March 2nd from 2PM-4PM. Cash awards will be presented for best of show, judges' choice and people's choice. Beginning Acting: Kids in 3rd-5th grades are given the opportunity to enjoy Friday early release theatre workshops taught by Brenda Green, that run from 10/21 through 2/17 (12 in total). The children will discover the secrets of stage through theatre games and exercises. Upon completion, the kids will perform a short play to be enjoyed by a real live audience! Time: 1:30pm-2:30PM. Museum Week: You're invited to attend "Museum Week" at Maryhill Museum of Art October 11-13 and 18-20! Maryhill hosts hundreds of regional 3rd/4th graders for a day of exploration and fun. Kids will look at portraits, make their own artworks and be entertained by storytellers.

Early Release Art! Carol Lindsay shares her love of art and color with kids on early release days in The Dalles (9/23, 9/30 and 10/7) in the Dry Hollow Elementary cafeteria. Kids will explore vibrant paints, the many uses of paint brushes and mixing paint. All materians are provided (including paint shirts). This event is limited to the first 20 children to register.
